Akamai Datadog Integration
Akamai DataStream provides out-of-the-box integration with Datadog to measure the health of your application performance in real-time.
Datadog is a monitoring service for cloud-scale applications, providing monitoring of servers, databases, tools, and services through a SaaS-based data analytics platform.
Note: You can integrate only an aggregated metrics stream that doesn’t push data to any location with Datadog. There are four steps to integrate DataStream with Datadog:
Get started with Akamai DataStream.
Set up an API client for the DataStream API.
Enable DataStream integration in your Datadog account.
Visualize your data in Datadog.
1. Get started with Akamai DataStream.
Configure an aggregated metrics stream that allows only for pulling data. For details, see the get started section.
2. Set up an API client for the DataStream API.
To integrate Datadog with DataStream, you need an API client with at least read-only access to the DataStream API. To create an API client, navigate to the Identity and Access Management page in Control Center.
Once you’re on the page, create an API client.
Provide a name for your client and grant it access the Pull DataStream API.
Finally, create credentials for your API client. You can see these credentials only once, so be sure to download or copy them directly into the Datadog integration tile for Akamai.
3. Enable DataStream integration in your Datadog account.
In your Datadog account, open the Akamai integration tile from the list of available integrations. Paste in the previously created credentials: host, client secret, access token, and client token. Next, add the Stream ID of your aggregated metrics stream. Select your host from the dropdown and click Update Configuration to complete the integration.
4. Visualize your data in Datadog
Once you’ve enabled the Akamai integration in Datadog, your metrics will start flowing into an Akamai dashboard. This template dashboard includes several high-level metrics on caching, request rate, and response times. You can also easily clone this dashboard to customize it and suit your needs.
You can apply any of Datadog's visualization and analytics features to your Akamai performance and delivery data. For example, you can use algorithms for anomaly detection, outlier detection, and forecasting to gain more insight into usage patterns or correlate them to the performance of your origin infrastructure.
