As an Akamai developer, you may have felt stymied from time to time by not being able to configure your own API access, and you generally had to ask an admin to make the changes for you. No longer! Akamai is committed to improving the developer experience, and as part of that, we have a new feature that puts you in the driver’s seat.
If you go the Configure tab in Luna, you’ll see two options. The current Manage API, and the new Manage API (Beta). The new version gives admins (and developers with access) the ability to make their own changes. If you don’t have admin access, tell your admin about this feature and get them to open up the self-servicing features for you.
In a nutshell, the new Manage API feature means:
- You can now manage API automation yourself
- You can automate rotation of API Client credentials
- You only need a single token to set of API access credentials for multiple contracts/groups
- You have the ability to limit access and audit who owns an API Client
Until April 12th you’ll see both options in the UI. After that, the Beta tag is gone and everyone will be using the new feature. But you can get started with it right away.
