The O’Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) is the annual event for open-source technologies, where you can find out what’s new and useful in the world of open source. And since it’s happening in Austin, Texas, the land of breakfast tacos and barbecue, we wanted to make sure we could sponsor the conference and support the open source community.

Akamai believes that open initiatives power the future of the internet and online experiences so we’re proud to sponsor OSCON this year, and are looking forward to hearing more about the projects the open web community is excited about.

We want to make the internet awesome for developers, and some of the open-source technologies we’re proud to contribute to include:

  • Making the internet faster with HTTP/2 and QUIC
  • Securing the internet with Let’s Encrypt, OpenSSL, and TLS
  • Contributing to reliability and scalability with Linux and IPV6
  • Standardizing streaming content with dash.js
  • Easing integration with Terraform, Varnish, and WordPress

Stop by our booth (#201 – next to the Hackathon) and let us show you our new integrations with WordPress, Terraform, and Varnish.

We’re stoked to connect Akamai’s technology with the tools you’re already using and help you create more awesome experiences. If you’d like to see an integration with part of your tech stack, please let us know!

If you’re exploring new career opportunities, we’ll have a recruiter onsite to discuss the many career possibilities with you!

We have also created an awesome lounge area within our booth for you to relax, recharge your electronics, and recharge you with some candy and fun 3D tattoo stickers.

Along with a chance to win one of these other killer prizes, we’re also giving away the following:

  • Awesome hoodie
  • LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon Episode IV
  • Quadcopter Drone with 2.7K HD Video Camera
  • High Performance Shining 3D Einstart-S Desktop 3D Printer
  • Anki Overdrive Starter Kit

We are also excited to be sponsoring and participating in the OSCON Open Source Code Game, along with the OSCON Food and Beverage (Make sure to stop by our booth for some awesomely delicious craft sodas from Hawaii!).

We’re stoked to connect Akamai’s technology with the tools you’re already using and help you create more awesome experiences. As the new Head of Events, Programs, and Community for the Akamai Developer team, I’m looking forward to seeing you drop by our booth at OSCON, talking about the web, and maybe even getting to say “pass the queso” while sharing brisket breakfast tacos (yep – those are a thing).

See you in Austin!
